WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID is a reactive aminoethylamino-propylfunctional poly-dimethylsiloxane.
Applications
WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID is particularly suitable as active substance in softener formulations for the impregnation of fibres and textiles. WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID imparts a very soft, drapable, and elastic handle to woven and knitted fabrics. WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID is considered to be the most excellent softening agent for cotton fabrics and knitwear made of cotton or cotton/PES blends. WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID improves the wash-and-wear properties and the crease recovery angle, sewability and tear strength and reduces abrasion loss. The effects are fast to washing and dry cleaning.
As part of formulations used as fill fibre finish WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID imparts excellent slickness and resilience to the fibre.
Processing
WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID can be applied neat, form solution, or emulsion. Suitable solvents are aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, higher alcohols, and ketones. Most textile processes are water-based. Hence WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID is mainly applied in emulsion form. WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID is suitable for the formulation of micro-emulsions and macro-emulsions.
WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID can be used as sole active substance in softener emulsions or in combination with other components, e.g. paraffines, esters of fatty acids, etc. Compatibility of the components has to be checked in each individual case.
Emulsions of WACKER AM-1 SILICONE FLUID are diluted to the optimum concentration for the specific fabric. Application can be done by padding or exhaustion.

WACKER AM-9 improves the wash-and-wear properties and the crease recovery angle, sewability and tear strength and reduces abrasion loss. The effects are fast to washing and dry cleaning.
WACKER AM-9 has little effect on the degree of white in a softener formulation when usual application conditions are adhered to. As a rule no adverse effect on the shade or colour fastness properties of coloured goods is observed.
